Team 2018-2019


Dagan Omwesiga is currently an LLM student specialising in Public International Law at Leiden University. With an interest in transnational dispute resolution and as a student member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, he hopes the Vis Moot 2019 will provide a practical approach to what he has learnt over time in class. He is enthusiastic that this will be a great learning experience given the diversity of the Leiden Vis Moot team and the challenges that come with mooting.


Erin Wolken is completing her master Public International Law at Leiden University. During her master, the course International Dispute Resolution sparked her interest for the different forms of alternative dispute resolution and especially arbitration. Currently she is writing her thesis on arbitration and also taking some courses of the master in Dutch civil law. In her opinion, participating in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is ideal to combine the theoretical knowledge of arbitration she is obtaining by writing her thesis with this moot court: arbitration in real life. She is really looking forward to participate in the moot court together with the Leiden team and to achieve great results.


Iuliia Sidorenko is 23 years old student in European and International Business Law (Advanced LL.M) program of Leiden University. She obtained her bachelor and master degrees in Russia. She is interested in dispute resolutions and likes challenging tasks, that is why, thinks that participation in the Willem C. Vis Moot Court is a great experience: it allows to be involved in a complicated litigation, deal with controversial legal problems, work with highly motivated teammates and learn from professional coaches.


Kamil Szumilas is currently a Master’s student of Advanced International and Civil Law at Leiden University. He was awarded the Leiden University Excellence Scholarship to study the above-mentioned programme. Kamil obtained his LLB in Business Law from De Montfort University, Leicester, United Kingdom. He decided to participate in the Moot Court as he believes that experience gained during the competition will be substantially beneficial in his future practice. Kamil is eager to work hard with this year’s team in order to reach the best result possible.

Loesje van Leeuwen

Loesje van Leeuwen is currently a student in European Law (LL.M.) program of Leiden University. Besides her legal education,. she has also obtained a Master’s degree in Political Science (MSc.). During her bachelor she has worked for Leiden University’s Moot Court as a trainer to improve other students pleading skills. She participates in the Leiden University Team for the Willem C. Vis Moot Court to learn and develop her pleading skills and she thinks working in an international team will be a great experience and also a lot of fun. Therefore, she looks forward to pleading in Vienna in April 2019.


Merel Wesselo is currently completing her Master´s in Corporate Law and her Bachelor’s in French at Leiden University. She has a special interest in litigation, international commercial law and dispute resolution. Merel signed up for the Vis Moot competition because she is always looking for opportunities to challenge herself and expand her knowledge. During her Bachelor´s degree, she studied abroad in Paris and in the US, so she feels right at home in international environments. Merel is proud to be part of this year’s team and she is confident that they will obtain excellent results together.


Monica le Sage is 23 years old Master’s student in Corporate Law. During her Bachelor International Business Law she studied in Leiden and London. Monica has a strong interest in international commercial law and arbitration and wants to extend her knowledge about this during the Willem C. Vis Moot Court. She is eager to enhance her oral pleading abilities and is looking forward to achieving great results in the competition with the team.


When Rosalie Teyhoff was 11 years old, she already knew she wanted to become a lawyer. Present-day, she is an enthusiastic, creative and eager to learn 23 years old Master’s student in Civil Law. Prior to her Master, Rosalie obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Dutch Law cum laude, while also studying a semester abroad in San-Francisco. Rosalie has a particular interest in (International) Commercial Law and therefore sees the Moot as the perfect opportunity to turn her knowledge into practice, before she starts working in the Commercial Litigation field.

Xiaoai Dong is a 22-year-old Master’s student in European and International Business Law. During her Bachelors she studied in China and assisted in several commercial dispute settlement cases during her internships at Chinese law firms. Xiaoai has participated in the Northeast China Universities Moot Court Competition, which greatly encouraged her to take it a step further and join the Leiden Willem C. Vis team. She is eager to learn more about the commercial arbitration and welcome this challenge with the whole team!

Yanlong LI

Yanlong LI is completing his Master’s studies on European and International Business Law (Advanced) at Leiden University. He obtained the degree of LL.B. in China and participated in the Vis East Moot last year. He is very interested in dispute settlement especially in the field of international commercial arbitration, and attaches much importance to this Vis team. Not only can he upgrade his experience and knowledge in international commercial arbitration, but also learn about different cultures. It is a good opportunity for him to encounter more challenges and enjoy the competition together with the team.
